Stephen Karafiath co-founded Talbot West and leads its solutions architecture practice. He is the person who determines whether a proposed system is going to succeed or fail, and what the dependencies are.
He spent more than twenty years at Oracle, where he was Head of the Developer Innovations Team. He consulted Fortune 500 companies on business process optimization and big data, and led the two hundred developers who architected and deployed the systems that came out of those engagements. The work covered cloud infrastructure, data engineering, systems integration, and machine learning, usually inside organizations with decades of accumulated technical debt and no appetite for a rewrite.
His current areas of focus is on advanced data engineering, neurosymbolic AI, and advanced retrieval architectures. He also teaches corporate development teams how to deploy AI coding capabilities with the guardrails that allow safe, scalable, efficient code.
